Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information TapThisTag, a service of Lead512 LLC (13359 N Highway 183, Suite 406-1317, Austin, TX 78750) (“we,” “us”), collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our website, tags, and services (the “Service”), you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account information — your email address, and optionally your name and phone number, used to sign you in and contact you.
• Pet profile information — details you add about your pet (name, photo, breed, medical notes, microchip number) and the contact details you choose to display.
• Tap activity — when someone taps a tag, we record the time, approximate location (city/region derived from network data), and device type, so you can see your tag’s activity.
• Order information — if you purchase a tag, we receive your order details (including the email used at checkout) to set up your account and tag.
• Technical data — basic logs and cookies needed to operate and secure the Service.
• Website analytics — on our public pages (the home page, the shop and checkout) we use Google Tag Manager and the measurement tools loaded through it to see how the site is found and used. These set cookies and receive your IP address and browsing activity on those pages. We do not run them on a pet’s profile page, so nobody is measured for scanning a found pet’s tag.

What a finder sees

The whole point of a tag is that anyone who taps it can view the public pet profile you create — typically your pet’s name and the contact methods you enable (call/text). You control what is shown. Your home address is hidden by default and only appears if you turn it on. You can edit or hide these details at any time, and “Lost” mode changes what is displayed.

How we use information

• To display your pet’s public profile when a tag is tapped.
• To operate your account, tags, and analytics.
• To send account and service messages (e.g., sign-in links and, if enabled, tap alerts).
• To secure the Service and prevent abuse.

Text message alerts (SMS)

Programme name: TapThisTag Lost Pet Alerts. If you opt in on our text-alerts page at tapthistag.com/sms — the only place we collect it — we text the mobile number you provide when your pet’s tag is scanned while that pet is marked lost, so you know someone may have found them. That is the only kind of text we send: no marketing, no promotions. Opting in is optional and is not required to buy a tag, create an account, complete a purchase, or use any part of the Service, and we never ask for it during checkout or signup.

• We collect your mobile number and a timestamped record of your consent, and use them only to send these alerts.
• Message frequency varies — you receive a text only when your pet’s tag is scanned while marked lost.
• Message and data rates may apply.
• Reply STOP to any message to opt out at any time, or reply HELP for help. You can also reach us at support@tapthistag.com.
• No mobile information — including your phone number and your SMS opt-in/consent — is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. It is shared only with the messaging provider that delivers the alert on our behalf, and where required by law.
• Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers who help us run the Service (e.g., hosting, email delivery, SMS delivery, payments, and the store platform), and where required by law. The public pet profile is, by design, viewable by anyone who taps or opens the tag’s link. As stated above, we never share mobile numbers or SMS opt-in consent with third parties for their marketing.

Data retention & your choices

We keep your information while your account is active. You can edit or delete your pets and contacts at any time, and you may request deletion of your account. Deleting a pet removes its profile; the tag itself stays in your account until you release or reassign it.

Children

The Service is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
